چکیده

The Internet of Things (IoT) paradigm plays a vital role for improving smart city applications by tracking and managing processes in real-time. One the most significant issues associated with is solid waste management, which has negative impact on our society’s health environment. traditional management process begins created residents disposed garbage bins at source. Municipal department trucks collect move it to recycling centers fixed schedule. Municipalities companies fail keep up outdoor containers, making impossible determine when clean them or they are full. This work proposes an IoT-enabled system cities overcome limitations systems. proposed architecture consists two types end sensor nodes: PBLMU (Public Bin Level Monitoring Unit) HBLMU (Home Unit), used track public residential areas, respectively. PBLMUs HBLMUs measure unfilled level trash bin its location data, it, transmit central monitoring station storage analysis. An intelligent Graphical User Interface (GUI) enables collection authority view evaluate status each bin. To validate architecture, following experiments were conducted: (a) Eight equipped connected LoRaWAN network another eight Wi-Fi network. filled wastes different levels corresponding every monitored through GUI. (b) experimental setup was arranged sleep current active contributions estimate average consumption. (c) life expectancy estimated as approximately 70 days under hypothetical conditions.
